Our Professional Staff Has Years of Experience

Mia Stockdale

Owner/Operator

Mia raced on the professional mountain bike circuit for 9 years earning several top-five and top-ten finishes on the National and World Cup Circuit. She started VMBC 30 years ago and has been teaching mountain biking to adults and kids ever since. Her skills, knowledge of the sport, and teaching experience make her one of the best in the business.

Shane Sluder

Owner/Operator

Shane raced mountain bikes for 10 years in Idaho as an expert. He has been teaching mountain biking with VMBC for 18 years. His great technical skills, his experience teaching, and his fun demeanor make him one of the favorite instructors.

Dawes Wilson

Instructor

Dawes has been teaching mountain biking with VMBC for the entire 30 years they’ve been in operation. He has raced mountain bikes for nearly 40 years. His love for the sport, along with his special skills as a gifted teacher, make him an amazing instructor.

Liam Clevenger

Instructor

Liam attended Vail Mountain Bike Camps Kid’s Camps for 5 years, followed by 4 years in the Race Academy program. This will be Liam’s fourth year as an instructor. He has raced mountain bikes for 7 years. His knowledge of the sport, his playfulness, and his skills, make him one of the more popular instructors.

Ian Rogers

Instructor

Ian attended Vail Mountain Bike Camps Kid’s Camps for 5 years, followed by 4 years in the Race Academy program. This will be Ian’s fourth year as an instructor. He has been racing mountain bikes and road bikes for 6 seasons and is getting better all the time. His passion for the sport, his skills, and his kindness, make him very well-liked as an instructor.

Leah Sandberg

Instructor

Leah’s mom, Nancy, was Mia’s partner in VMBC when it first started 25 years ago. It was only a matter of time before Leah started working as well. Leah attended Vail Mountain Bike Camps Kid’s Camps for 4 years, followed by one year in the Race Academy program. She raced mountain bikes locally for 2 years. This will be Leah’s third season as an instructor. She’s fun, easy-going, and very well-liked by the kids.

Gus Pernetz

Instructor

Gus has worked with Vail Mountain Bike Camps for 3 seasons. He comes from an alpine skiing background, where he coached for 20 years at a super high level. He is very passionate about mountain biking and it is a huge part of his life. His knowledge of the sport, his unprecedented teaching experience, and his attention to detail, make him an incredible instructor.

Jackson Cohn

Instructor

Jackson attended Vail Mountain Bike Camps for 6 years, followed by one year in the Race Academy program. He will be starting his second season this year as a Jr. Instructor. His patience, along with his knowledge of the sport, make him a great addition to the team.
